WOYWW and altered chalk board

Good morning all,had a good sleep last night thanks to attending a course for work last night and making me stay up late so hence i did some sorting in my craft room to unwind and did not make it to my bed til later than normal :)
Going to add this blog entry to WOYWW as finding it already a bit addictive.
Here is my desk as of late last night and its very similar this morning to be honest as after seeing all your desks last week and comments on how tidy i am,thought i should rebel a bit but boy is it
But i still craft tidy and as one blogger rightly spotted i am a bit OCD. Well been tackling a tag album and was getting rather frustrated with the instructions so have put it away and decided to organise my stamps instead. On the left is my new organiser(coloured card cut out for sections and used the cricut to cut tabs) and then had cut a load of white card blanks which i add a stamped image to. The purple drawer is my christmas stamps drawer which is rather full. You can see some of my fave penny black stamps. Am writing on the backs of card, name of stamp, maker and where its stored. And if you are wondering that little black film canister is my travel pot for wipes and yes you can squeeze 3 in a push.  The silver case holds all my promarkers and there are stamps in the clear boxes.
And this is my finished altered chalk board which hangs just out of sight above my desk,it was a bargain from a shopping trip and you can see the items i brought here.
Thanks so much for all the lovely comments on my blog last week and i have returned them all and managed to get around quite a few extra too and hope to do the same this week. So if you want to find out what WOYWW means hop on over to Julia's blog but beware you might be a while!

Owl Wall Hanging and new stash

Hi all, hope you enjoying this gorgeous weather, been out for a long walk, done the dreaded housework so now its play time and i have finished of a wall hanging that i started to make when i had a Cricut playday at Sandras house. All made using SCAL,my fave part of my Cricut as love tinkering and changing around.
I used core card, ribbon from stash and a Tim Holtz paper pack (retro grunge) which was rather lush and just right for the colour i needed, here is a close up of my fave owl, isnt he cute.
Had a lovely morning with hubby yesterday exploring charity shops looking for bargains and whilst out managed to gather this little lot.

Gesso and charms were from the Works, going to have a go at making my first altered book using these fab tutorials here  hence the gesso and the charms were a bargain, reduced to 59p each and then buy one get one free so you can see i went a little up a £1 chalkboard which i am going to alter to go above my desk and found in one the charity shops these playing cards for a bargain price of 10p and last and not least got these lush ribbons in Lidls on the way home so a good shopping trip :)
Now i just need to decide do i start my altered book,do some more tag pages or stamp some more images as i have decided to catalogue my stamp collection....ok i know i am mad but i like to do those
Any way have a fab day and thanks for visiting,x

Craft room move around and WOYWW first ever time

Well those who know me well have come to realise i love to move things around, sort out my storage and keep my desk tidy....shock,horror,yes i like to keep my desk tidy :) though on occassions i have been known to
Anyway after lurking for several months and admiring many a desk and having to fit the urge to go and tidy them have decided to join in the amazing thing that is Whats on your Workdesk Wednesday which is organised by the Julia over at Stamping Ground so to kick off my first ever entry and hopefully many more i present to you my desk
And yes this is how it normally looks like!! I am in the middle of making a tag album but it goes into a clear storage box when i am not crafting, the box on the desk contains a mothers day hanging for my mum which you can find here. my fab distress ink storage i got at a craft show and i love it. All my craft units are recycled and were preloved. The bell is a pressie from my hubby who has now regretted getting it :)

Another off my preloved items which i painted white and use to store my big punches
This unit i saved from the school skip which now holds all my card and paper and onto is my cricut and to the left is my stamp storage unit.

Over here are my embellishments, big shot and a bit of everything and yes there are more punches in those clear drawers. Below is a unit that stores my dies, paint stuff and items to alter.

And to finish i share my craft room with two of my pets,Sam is my gorgeous yorkie who is 11 this year so likes to sleep and the my cat is Mitzi who has now almost 18 hence all her white hairs. Luckily my boys dont mind sleeping in there when they come home for a visit.
Well i hope i havent bored you all,off to link up now and go visit some blogs before work,x

Labour of love

First off all a warning as there are lots of you have been warned :)
Wanted to make something for my mum who will be 60 at the end of the month for her to keep but didnt take up to much space and also had a purpose so on one of my many trips to the local charity shops found this box complete with eye shadows which i binned.
Wasn't sure where to start but dug out the acrylic paint and gave the drawer and box several coats first over a few days only for disaster to strike and the whole lot to fall off in one piece from the drawer section as i hadnt keyed the

So sanded down drawer front and started again with the acrylic paint, box was covering fine and then on to cutting up some wrapping paper,my mum loves roses and i decopatched them all over the box
but decided i didnt like that effect so next came the varnish which i coated all over, making rather a mess!

Loved the bumpy texture it gave to the paper where it had not dried smooth which gave me my next idea which was to cover it in black acrylic paint!! i know what was i
Anyway once dried raided the tool cupboard for some sandpaper and had fun attacking and sanding down and getting a very distressed look and covering me in dust :)
Well after that came the nice bit of adding some decoration to the box to complete it,so there we are one finished box.
Just hope she likes it after all that, now need to find something to go in the box.
Thanks for hanging onto to the end, this has taken me two weeks on and off so must be a record for one of my longest projects.
Can i just say how much i appreciate all your lovely comments on my blog and i do try to repay the favour and hello to my new followers,x
