Mini album for 2013

Hello all, well looks like we have seen the end of the snow, not that we got that much here but the surrounding villages are bad by all accounts. Was lovely to have some sun today whilst outside with the children at work. Anyway have joined a challenge over at Docrafts where we upload a layout once a month based on a theme. The theme for January is Celebrations/Hopes.
front of album i made to hold the layouts

decorated base pages

January layout

This photo is of me and hubby and my three boys taken at my cousins wedding at St Georges Chapel at Windsor Castle where my boys were page boys and didnt they look cute. Dont reckon hubby has changed at all but i know i have! It was a fabulous day and we were all bused in and had to show our passes to security as only the royal family or staff are allowed there so it was a special occassion for all.
Papers used on album were 1st Edition.
Need to get cracking on my next page now,x

A bit of nostalgia for my DT post

Hi all, well been a bit under the weather this week ending in having a actual day off on friday as felt so rough and not feeling much better today :(
Though i did spend the day on the sofa with the dog dozing in between phonecalls and the postman! not sure i am going to able today as we have a visitor for the weekend.
But anyway luckily i had finished my project and just needed the last touches.
So our theme this week over at StampnCraft is to use wool/yarn on our projects and this is my effort
It's a coaster

I had dug out my nan's french knitting tool which i had inherited along with her button tin (spent ages as a child playing with them) and spent the week when i had a few mins spare practising this skill which i hadnt done for ages!

loads of tutorials around if you google french knitting and even ones on how to make your own knitting tool but this was my finished length of knitting which i then stitched together.
I used a cardboard circle which i adhered to bottom of knitting which also covered up the stitches and then diecut a piece of felt using scalloped nestie which then went on the bottom of the card and there you have it a hand made wool coaster. Do pop over to StampnCraft to see the other projects that the ladies have made this week. I shall be back to catch up on your blogs later when i feel a bit better,x

WOYWW and finally finished tag album version 2!

Oh the joys of being back at work has sunk in again..........help..........................................lol
Anyway now means crafting when i can or am still awake! so this is my desk in the middle of completing my tag album to store the tags from swops i have joined and the reason i am sharing my desk with you is the brainwave of Julia over at Stamping Ground, pop over for the reason why.
Anyway if you want to play i spy with my desk you should be spying my lappy (attached to my hip normally) where i was watching a film 'Super',my quickkutz squeeze and dies to cut out a million letters or at least it felt like that.My ikea pop up bin, scraps of paper left over from album which is leaning by bin along with tags to go inside.Ottilite lamp (fab for poor light) and some mini choc eggs got from a friend.

And this is the finished album, with tags in and room for more.Used card from stash and the new papermania boofle papers to decorate, mini tags which i edged using walnut stain distress ink and the tag with this fab freebie image from saturated canary (coloured with promarkers) was off a cardigan and i just covered with a scrap of paper.
And this was what all the letters were for, to do the months of the year on each pocket, will add info of tags later on. Tutorial to make this album if you fancy a go is here.
Thanks for all the lovely comments that you peeps leave on my blog and i will always pay you a return visit and try to get around as many blogs as i can as love being nosey peeking in,x

WOYWW and a late night.......yawn!!

Well am rather bleary eyed this morning as stayed up late making a album to store swop tags in so excuse me if i go for a snooze soon!
Anyway this is my desk as off VERY late last night, when i remembered to take a picture before i did my normal tidying up as i am rather a neat freak ( i know how strange........lol)
I was following a tutorial which you can find here and using my new boofle papers which are rather cute. On my desk you can see my martha stewart board which i love, new ladybird scissors, uhu glue (go through it by the bucketful) and on the desks pull out board my bin, cutter and album base. You get extra marks if you can spot my homemade stamp a ma jig also made following a tutorial.
And this new piece of fab storage to hold my acrylic blocks and inks pads cost me the grand sum of 50p at a car boot sale. It has also freed up some more desk space :)
Just need to add some decoration to my album once i have woken up and then i will post it to my blog. I have the week of so shall enjoy it looking at your blogs as missed joining in last week but thanks for all the kind words re the death of my cat Otiz,x

Art journal diary.....something rather different for me!!

Well been making the most of my time off and catching up on some things i wanted to try and projects to finish off. After spotting a monthly calender  over at Eliabeths Altered book lover blog thought i would like to try that and this is my first months page which i am rather chuffed with.
Been making it over the last few days, gessoed pages first and then went mad with my watercolour paints! My theme was april showers and first colours of spring. Used chipboard letters for the month title and punched out squares for my journalling. Using my neglected whispers pens to doodle on it and add any info.More information and examples also can be found here.
Need to get working on next months page now.x

Tag album finally finished!!

Hello everyone and hope you are having a fab Easter. Would like to say thanks so much for your kind words and hugs re the loss of my white cat Otiz, still finding it strange without him but know hes not suffering now. My other cat Mitzi is almost 18 and Sam the dog will be 11 this year are also missing him but have been spoiling them with lots of fuss and treats so am sure they will be ok.
Anyway been playing around with this album for a while and struggling with some of the pages so had put it away but after help from Kelly at the last Bristol craft meet made the elusive last pages and all that was left to do was decorate it,which is the fun part :).
front of cover

charms from primark
grunge board cut out using tim holtz die and added fastner

all pages are interactive, have pockets and flaps

some of my fave papers

I used First Edition 'Desert bloom' papers, recycled dog biscuit box for the covers, 7gypsies cable ties(donated by kelly), Tim holtz 'hardware findings' die. Grungeboard, pearlised card for mats, pearls, flowers, butterflies and dress form from stash and the charms were £1 from primark.
Now i need to just fill it up either with tags or photos,or maybe just admire, big decision..........lol
Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog and if you leave a comment i will happily return the visit,x

UPDATE- blogger being naughty and i cant change the last bit of font to the same size as above and could only add writing as a caption so hope you can all read it ok,x

WOYWW and my altered book

Well this week has zoomed by,just a few more days and its my time off for the easter holidays and i am looking forward to some serious craft time instead of the few minutes here and there, also pleased to report that my cold has finally gone, hurray :)  Anyway i am showing you my desk today as i have become a fan of the trend setter Julia from Stamping Ground who encourages everyone to reveal whats on their desks on a Wednesday no matter how tidy or messy they are! ( i am definately a tidy crafter......lol)
This is my desk at the moment or i should say as off late last night and you can see my altered book with its niche, been following the fab tutorials over at Elizabeths blog Altered book lover and really enjoying learning something new. My theme is my blog, nickname and its history. On my desk you can see various glues, acrylic paint (touch up a area on book) ink pads and my spider stamps and at the back my beaded spider coaster which a lovely friend Teresa got me from America.
This is my book before i covered the niche all clamped and waiting for the gel medium to dry propped up by my favourite drink. Anyway off to link up and have a nosey at some blogs before work. Thanks for popping in and i will return the favour,x

WOYWW and altered chalk board

Good morning all,had a good sleep last night thanks to attending a course for work last night and making me stay up late so hence i did some sorting in my craft room to unwind and did not make it to my bed til later than normal :)
Going to add this blog entry to WOYWW as finding it already a bit addictive.
Here is my desk as of late last night and its very similar this morning to be honest as after seeing all your desks last week and comments on how tidy i am,thought i should rebel a bit but boy is it hard......lol
But i still craft tidy and as one blogger rightly spotted i am a bit OCD. Well been tackling a tag album and was getting rather frustrated with the instructions so have put it away and decided to organise my stamps instead. On the left is my new organiser(coloured card cut out for sections and used the cricut to cut tabs) and then had cut a load of white card blanks which i add a stamped image to. The purple drawer is my christmas stamps drawer which is rather full. You can see some of my fave penny black stamps. Am writing on the backs of card, name of stamp, maker and where its stored. And if you are wondering that little black film canister is my travel pot for wipes and yes you can squeeze 3 in a push.  The silver case holds all my promarkers and there are stamps in the clear boxes.
And this is my finished altered chalk board which hangs just out of sight above my desk,it was a bargain from a shopping trip and you can see the items i brought here.
Thanks so much for all the lovely comments on my blog last week and i have returned them all and managed to get around quite a few extra too and hope to do the same this week. So if you want to find out what WOYWW means hop on over to Julia's blog but beware you might be a while!

Owl Wall Hanging and new stash

Hi all, hope you enjoying this gorgeous weather, been out for a long walk, done the dreaded housework so now its play time and i have finished of a wall hanging that i started to make when i had a Cricut playday at Sandras house. All made using SCAL,my fave part of my Cricut as love tinkering and changing around.
I used core card, ribbon from stash and a Tim Holtz paper pack (retro grunge) which was rather lush and just right for the colour i needed, here is a close up of my fave owl, isnt he cute.
Had a lovely morning with hubby yesterday exploring charity shops looking for bargains and whilst out managed to gather this little lot.

Gesso and charms were from the Works, going to have a go at making my first altered book using these fab tutorials here  hence the gesso and the charms were a bargain, reduced to 59p each and then buy one get one free so you can see i went a little mad.....lol.Picked up a £1 chalkboard which i am going to alter to go above my desk and found in one the charity shops these playing cards for a bargain price of 10p and last and not least got these lush ribbons in Lidls on the way home so a good shopping trip :)
Now i just need to decide do i start my altered book,do some more tag pages or stamp some more images as i have decided to catalogue my stamp collection....ok i know i am mad but i like to do those things.....lol
Any way have a fab day and thanks for visiting,x

For my mum

Thought i would show you the rest of what i have been making my mum lately. This is for Mothers Day and i made this when i had a cricut crafting day with Sandra and Sophie and used the Enchanted sparrow paperscape svg file which i purchased from here.
Used paper and card from stash and added gems to the flowers and ribbon to hang it up.
Also made a napkin fold card for mum as its a special birthday for her and wanted to make a different style card, also made a box to contain it.

You can find the instructions for the napkin fold card here.

I have been moving stuff around again and have changed my craft room layout so keep a eye out for lots of pics on my next post.Off to have a nosey at your blogs,x
